Later Starter vs Growth for One Person

Two bundles of social posts, one held by a solo marketer and one approved by a client

Later Starter fits one person posting for one brand, up to 30 scheduled posts per profile each month, with no one else needing a login. Move to Growth when you add a client’s accounts, need client approvals inside Later, or post more than 30 times a month on a network. Scale is for six brands or deeper analytics. Decide on the yearly price only if you are sure, because Later plans are non-refundable.

What each plan gives one person

Later’s pricing page lists three paid plans and a 14-day trial. The table shows the rows that decide the plan for a solo business.

Social sets decide more than price

A social set is one profile on each network Later supports: Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Pinterest, LinkedIn, YouTube, Threads and Snapchat. Later describes it as a way to organize content “by brand or client”. In practice, one social set equals one brand.

That makes the first question simple: how many brands do you post for? Your own business alone fits Starter. Your business plus one client needs two social sets, which means Growth, because Starter cannot buy extra sets. On Growth the pricing page shows extra social sets at $11.25 a month each on yearly billing, or $15 a month each on monthly billing.

How the 30-post limit really works

A monthly calendar with post cards stacked per network up to a limit line

Later’s FAQ says the limit counts scheduled posts per month per profile, not per social set, and that posts count when they are scheduled rather than when they are published. On Starter, an Instagram account and a TikTok account each get 30, so cross-posting the same video to both uses one from each.

Thirty a month is roughly one post a day on each network. If your plan includes Stories or several Reels a day, count a typical week before choosing Starter; Growth raises the limit to 180 per profile.

When Growth earns its price for client work

  • Client approvals. Growth includes internal and external collaboration and approvals, so a client can sign off in Later instead of in an email thread.
  • A second login. Starter is limited to one user. Growth includes two, enough for you plus a client or an assistant.
  • Replies in one place. Growth adds a social inbox for comments and messages.
  • AI captions. Starter’s five AI credits a month run out quickly; see our guide to Later’s AI caption tools before counting on them.

If two clients are the reason for upgrading, compare the cost per client with our Later vs Buffer comparison, which prices both tools for a growing client roster.

Yearly or monthly, and the trial

Yearly billing is shown as 25% off, or three months free. Over twelve months that is $225 against $300 for Starter, and $450 against $600 for Growth. The pricing FAQ says yearly plans are billed once a year and renew automatically.

Two rules make the choice matter more than usual:

  1. The trial converts automatically. Later’s trial FAQ says you enter card details and choose yearly or monthly billing at the start, and the subscription begins when the 14 days end unless you cancel first.
  2. Plans are non-refundable. Later’s refund policy says paid plans are non-refundable, with exceptions reviewed case by case and possibly subject to early termination fees.

If you are not sure the workflow will stick, choose monthly billing during the trial and switch to yearly once you have posted through a full month.
